Final Project
To begin with i brainstormed ideas I was primary going between a few things I really wanted to make a record player but somebody else was doing that and I didn't want to do the same project as them. I also wanted to make a chair because at the time I didn't have a chair for my room or I wanted to make a snowboard. But after brainstorming some more I decided to make a projector. I did a lot of research and there was many ways to make the projector but since I wanted it to be in the correct orientation it limited my options. I finally thought that I had found a way to make it so I tried making it out of cardboard and it failed. So then I adjusted it so it would work the best it could this took many different trials but I ended up getting it the best it would project.

Front of ProjectorMy first part of the actual projector was the front face where the magnifying glass would be situated however the first time I cut it out I messed up the dimensions and made the hole to small and the hole was not centered so then I fixed the design in inventor and then created the tool paths in fusion 360 and finally cut it out on the router.

Lazer engraved designOnce I had the side pieces done and after much debate about what I wanted to engrave into the projector I decided on an old school camera recorder that would go on both sides facing the direction of the projection. So after designing in illustrator I took it down to the lazer and engraved both of the designs into my wood.

Final project
Conclusion
In conclusion there are so many things that I could say that I learned from this project and this semester in Big Idea overall. However, if I had to limit it to a few things there are a few things that I learned the most. The first thing is to never give up during the beginning of this final project process during the research and me making a prototype out of cardboard I wanted to give up because it wasn't working. And then when I finally got the projector to work it wasnt working good enough. So I spent a lot of time just making each of the prototypes not even knowing if I was ever going to get it to work. But I didn't give up and by the end I had a projector that actually brojected and was easy to see. Also during this Research portion I not only learned so much about projectors and the different ways you could project a screen and about the different types of magnifying glasses. I had also learned a lot about the projects that I didnt do like the record player, I never realized that so many parts went into making a record player. This happed with all the other projects that I had researched too.
Another thing that happened because of this project was that I really had to think about my time management skills. Using your time wisely is one of the main things that helps you complete Big Idea successfully. Many times I came into class and wasn't in the mood to do anything for the class, but knowing that I needed to use my time wisely I forced myself to work on my projects. We had our final project since the very first day of big idea, but we also had other projects to do. I often procrastinated doing my final project and did the smaller little projects. Even though I needed time for the little projects I often wasted time taking longer then I needed to on these project Even though my time management skills weren't the best I could have been done with my final project before the very last day of class.
Lastly during this project, I had tried doing many new things I have never done before. First, I don't think that I have ever used a drill, so initially I was very nervous because I had decided to put the projector using screws. However after the first day of using the drill to put my pieces together I had become more comfortable with the drill. In addition, I thought it was really cool how I was able to make my own hinges because it just made me think about all the other things that could be made on the 3d printer. Overall I really enjoyed this project, and I hope I can do something like this again because it really made me think about all of the things that could be made especially seeing all of the amazing projects that everyone else was making in my class!
