Heat Press
presearch
To begin with I went online and to sites such as pinterest to see any designs that were already made that I could base mine off of. I then started drawing a few sketches of designs that I had seen and changed changed them to make them personalized to me. After that I started designing it.
Completion
After I picked a design that I wanted to design I started by designing it in inventor, it was relatively easy to make but I couldn't decide a font and weather to fill in the letters or not. Anyways I finished my design and then I decided to change it, however I just went back to doing the design that I originally had. After picking the design I separated it into separate art boards. Then I reflected them all so that they would cut out in the right orientation because we cut out the vynal on the backside which is different then regular vynal. Once I had finished that I cut out my design on the vynal cutter. After that I layered the different cutouts in the order I wanted them to be. Then I finally got to start heat pressing ! Before I started heat pressing I cut out all of the letters individually so I only had to do one press which worked out really nice.
This is my original design and me deciding what font I wanted to use Here is my final design all together on inventor These are a few of the separated parts of the design reflected on different art boards Here is some of the heat press vynal getting cut out This is my design cut out and ready to be printed This is my design on the heat press And this is my final shirt |
Conclusion
In conclusion, this project was really fun, I have always seen heat presses in different locations but I never knew how it actually worked. My favorite part of the project was actually being able to heat press my shirt and seeing how simple it was to do so. I also learned about how I could just separate my design into separate art boards on inventor which was very convenient when I went to cut out my vynal. I also learned that when you heat pressed the shirt you could have multiple different colors on the shirt as long as the plastic for the vynal wasn't touching. I was really happy about being able to do that because it took a lot less time then heat pressing each color individually. Another thing that I didn't know was that the ink used for heat pressing was in the form of vynal. Also on inventor I didn't know that you could reflect or rotate your image which is really useful. Finally, I was really happy with the results of this project and it was a great experience.
